Vibrotech Engineering SL has designed and manufactured one of the largest shake out tables in the world. The SHT shake out table has been installed in the foundry facilities of GRUPO WEC in Salvatierra (Spain).
This machine is used to demould parts for the wind power sector. The average weight of the boxes (sand + piece + box) is around 120 tons.
The machine whose total weight is around 35 tons is driven by four vibrators with a total power of 50 kW. These drives are joint two by two by an elastic coupling on both sides of the machine.
The design of the machine is based on the robustness that is required in such complex environment; great size and weight of the boxes, high stripping temperatures and, consequently, a high temperature surrounding the drives. They are some of the reasons why the technical team at Vibrotech Engineering SL chose to use this type of drives instead of conventional ones, composed of an eccentric shaft and driven by motor, with the usual maintenance problems, especially the difficulty of changing bearings, and in most cases with difficult access and work in poor handling conditions.
On the other hand, Vibrotech Engineering, in its continuous aim to improve its product range, with the support by the CTDI (The Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology) has developed a Compensated Resonance Conveyor.
The advantage of this balanced system is that the dynamic loads transmitted to the ground are much lower than conventional natural frequency conveyors. In this way they can be installed in places where the ground is not sufficiently armed. It is also beneficial in case of large uphill slopes of the parts, especially in foundry processes.
